Why Buffalo Concrete Is Different
Western NY is one of the most demanding climates for concrete in the country. Here is what we do differently because of it.
Freeze-Thaw Rated Mixes
We use air-entrained concrete with the right water-to-cement ratio for our climate. This is the single biggest factor in whether a Buffalo driveway or patio cracks within five years.
48-Inch Frost Line Sub-Base
Buffalo’s frost depth means footings and sub-base work needs to account for significant ground movement. We size and compact sub-base material to prevent frost heave from lifting slabs.
Road Salt Resistant Sealing
NYSDOT and Erie County roads use heavy salt and deicer. We seal all exterior flatwork with penetrating sealers that block chloride infiltration and prevent spalling from salt damage.

Concrete FAQs for Buffalo Homeowners
How much does a concrete patio cost in Buffalo, NY?
Most concrete patios in the Buffalo metro run $10 to $18 per square foot installed, depending on size, thickness, finish, and site prep. Freeze-thaw rated mix designs and proper control joint placement are standard in our work, which affects material cost but prevents cracking over time. We give a firm written price after a free on-site measure.
Why is concrete work in Buffalo different from other regions?
Buffalo averages over 90 inches of snow annually, and Western NY soils freeze to a depth of 48 inches or more. Concrete needs a proper sub-base that drains below the frost line, the right water-to-cement ratio to handle freeze-thaw cycles, and correct joint placement to control cracking. Road salt and ice melt also attack unsealed surfaces. We have been pouring for Buffalo conditions since 2007 and know what lasts.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. CIT Concrete Contractor Services is licensed and insured, and every project comes with a written workmanship warranty. We are happy to share proof of licensing and insurance, and walk through the specific warranty coverage for your project type, when you get your free quote.
How long does a new concrete patio or slab take?
Most residential slabs are a two to three day job: one day to form and prep, one day to pour and finish, then curing. You can walk on new concrete in about 24 hours and put normal load on it after roughly seven days. Buffalo winters mean we schedule pours when overnight temperatures stay above freezing.
Do you offer free quotes?
Always. We come out, measure, talk through your options, and give you a detailed written estimate at no cost and with no pressure.
